Have to Hurry, Have to Wait

I'm walking in mental circles....hurry....wait...hurry....wait. Sheer panic sets in because I've not prepared much of anything, but pure exasperation when I do try to prepare since so much of the preparations hang in the balance of....wait for it...THE REFERRAL.

We've bought a few outfits for posterity. But in actuality, we may be referred a boy, who may be anywhere from 6 months old to a toddler. I doubt very seriously that Bobby will let me put a pink and purple flowered onsie on our little boy even if I promise not to let him out of the house. (Yes, we have a name ready for a boy too, just in case. Crossed that off the list ages ago.)

The weather is the other x factor. I've all but given up on guessing the season of the year we'll travel. How can I plan my packing list if I don't know if we'll be travelling in the scorching heat of the summer or the cool fall. Can you hear my keystrokes getting faster and the high-pitched scream? Okay...let me just take a moment to breathe. (And, sip the margarita...instead of inhale it).

I've once again begun compiling T.H.E. L.I.S.T. It is both my life saver and pit of despair at this point. My list actually has columns now that includes me, Bobby, my parents (each has their own column), and Kayla (just for kicks). That's right. I have started compiling *their* To Do lists as well. I'm outta control here!!! At least it gives me something to focus on during the most dreaded last two months of the-wait-to-referral. I am still clinging to that time line with all my might. But it is also a reminder of everything I will need to get done during the second most dreaded wait...the-wait--to-TA (travel appointment). From what I understand, this will be the most brutal (but so worth it) wait of the entire journey.

For all the BTDT who might be following this...please point me to your favorite *Lists*. For the rest of you, please tell my family this is normal nesting tendencies and that I do not need therapy (yet).

Star light, star bright

Star light, star bright,

First star I see tonight,

I wish I may,

I wish I might,

Have the wish I wish tonight.

Happy (Waiting) Mother's Day!!!

Here's a shout out to my little cousin Breanne who called to wish me a Happy Mother's Day...since we are both into technology and stuff. Luv ya kiddo!

I'm trying to keep my feet on the ground...but it's getting harder with each passing day. God willing I will have some gooey little crafty Mother's Day project to hang on the fridge for many years to come starting next year. And since she will probably be to small to do crafts for a little while, I expect it will be Bobby's "artwork" for the first year...so the description of a gooey happy mess still fits.

*!*!*!*!*!*!*Tales from the Zebras*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*

The secret to happiness has been discovered...masking tape and a woman's attention. That's all it takes. (Now before your mind goes all crazy Internet adult on me--keep reading, this is a family blog you know.)

Tape a little winding pathway on the floor, sprinkle with 3 year old kids' imagination, and boom there's half an hour of happiness. As I watched the little zebras crawling single file crab-style down this masking tape path for the the umpteenth time, I realized that their joy came from me watching them cross the finish line and shouting out praises about their seaworthy performances. Nothing really changes much once we reach adulthood, does it?
