Update on wait times from our Agency

Today our agency sent an e-mail to update the waiting families. I've inserted an excerpt below to keep friends and family (and other blog watchers) updated on our progress.

Dear Families,

Many of you have inquired about the referral process and current wait time. Unfortunately, it appears that the wait time has increased to 11-12 months from the time a Dossier is logged into the CCAA (China Center of Adoption Affairs) until a referral. This information is based upon the CCAA's recent posting on their website (
http://www.china-ccaa.org/frames/index_unlogin_en.jsp) regarding the referrals processed for March.........

Another rumor floating around on various message boards is that the CCAA will only process Dossiers logged in on May 31, 2005 in April due to an abundance of Dossiers logged in at the very end of May last year. Please note that this is only a rumor that has not been confirmed by the CCAA......

Finally, we would like to address the inquiries coming in regarding the CCAA's move. While they had originally hoped to move towards the end of 2005, they are still in the process of completing their move. The CCAA has not given a concrete projected date for their move, and if they do, we'll be sure to let each of you know.....

The news is hard to read, but not really unexpected based on the rumors that have been circulating on other adoption newsgroups. So what this means for us, if I'm reading this e-mail right, we can expect to be matched November-ish and we will get Kayla somewhere between January and February of 2007.

The positives that I choose to take away from this:

1. More time to accumulate PTO at work

2. One more summer to drag Bobby on a "romantic" camping trip in the mountains

3. Additional beach trips to enjoy with friends that only involve packing a beach towel, coke, and candy bar

4. More time to appreciate how lucky I am that I will be a mom to the most beautiful chinese baby girl in all my world in only a few short months. Look at that, I'm already biased.

Okay....now it's time for you to add to the list...

March Madness ...Go Gators!

I've nothing new to post on the adoption front. No new books have been read. Nothing has been finished in the nursery. This time I'll blame it on March Madness. Most our dates early in our relationship were in the form of attending Gator Basketball games. Well, that and the Texas round dancing classes (my idea, of course). You can see which one stood thee test of time in the end. Bobby's never put on those dancing boots for me again after the big "I DO". Oh well! At least the Gators are having a good year!
